About

Herbs and queer people have loved and supported one another throughout history, and this legacy continues today. Join us for an evening exploring the many ways medicinal plants can support our health. Through blind tea tasting and an introduction to different herbal preparations such as balms and tinctures. You’ll learn how herbal medicine can support us in our own healing and how herbs can become part of our everyday lives. The session will include: Meeting a plant through blind tea tasting. Participants will be guided to explore the effects of a chosen herb on their bodies and minds, using writing and drawing as reflective tools. We’ll then share our experiences together, considering how the plant works for each of us and how this compares with its traditional uses and current biomedical understanding. All sessions weave together connections between queerness and herbs through historical records, botany, and contemporary applications of herbal medicine in queer health. We’ll also explore the role of herbal medicine in queer health today. Host Odhran (they/them) is a trans medical herbalist living between London and France. Their practice involves the practical application of herbalism within local communities, researching herbal trans health, and the curiosity of seeing the world from non-human perspectives. They encourage the exploration of individuals’ subjective perspectives by involving all the senses, and by playing with the stories we learn and tell ourselves to make sense of the world. @mordicaherbs Upcoming dates for more events 12 July 2026
